DevOps culture
CALMS, shift-left, and "you build it, you run it" — culture sold as tooling, tooling sold as culture.
DevOps stuck where ownership of deploy and on-call actually moved. It failed as a job title and tool checklist that left silos intact. Containers and CI made the practices tangible; the durable win is shared responsibility, not a Jenkins plugin.
Context
Split everything, then pay for the glue
Hyperscale patterns escaped the companies that needed them. Containers unified packaging; Kubernetes became the cloud OS; microservices and NoSQL were sold as defaults. Mobile-first stuck because screens changed. Cargo-cult distributed systems stuck around as invoices. The durable move was packaging and ops maturity — not rewriting every app into a mesh.
